Zelensky Says Alaska Summit Is Victory for Russia
(MENAFN) Ukraine's President, Vladimir Zelensky, has referred to the upcoming summit between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump as a “personal victory” for the Russian leader.
The meeting, scheduled for this Friday in Alaska, marks a significant development in the ongoing Ukraine conflict.
Zelensky stated in a press conference on Tuesday that the summit signals the end of Russia’s "international isolation" over its involvement in Ukraine.
According to Zelensky, the fact that Putin will meet Trump on US soil is a clear indication of Russia’s diplomatic success.
He emphasized that Moscow has also succeeded in securing a delay in sanctions, referencing a ten-day ultimatum issued by Trump to Russia in late July.
The US president confirmed last week that the highly anticipated meeting with Putin will take place in Alaska, a decision which was further corroborated by the White House on Tuesday.
The city of Anchorage will host the summit, though the specific venue remains unconfirmed, with media outlets suggesting that the Elmendorf-Richardson military base could serve as the location.
